Originally my plan wasn't to keep two puppies from this litter. I was trying to decide between keeping Szeth or Nova, as I considered Nova my best puppy in the litter but I really wanted to keep a boy. At their  8 week wellness and vaccine check, my vet heard a grade 2 heart murmur. Puppies, especially giant breeds often get innocent heart murmurs when young which they grow out of, but as there's always potential for it to be something more sinister so we purposefully held her back as well so we could continue to assess. By time the litter had cardiac ultrasounds done at 10.5 weeks of age the murmur had drastically gotten quieter, and there was no concerns seen on cardiac ultrasound - the vet reported it was an innocent murmur. During this time we unexpectedly lost our best boy Lopen. After that I made the executive decision that both puppies would be staying. Nova's murmur continued to decrease in audibility, and by the time her 16 week vaccination came around her murmur had fully resolved.

I love unique names, but Nova just stuck. This girl is full of personality and reminds me so much of her mom as a puppy, hence we put the 'Breath' part in her registered name which her mom also has. Looking back, everything that happened—the timing, the decisions, the loss of Lopen—it all led to her staying. It wasn’t the plan, but somehow it feels like the universe knew better. It feels like she was always meant to be here.


ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
Aug  17/25 - Went best of breed for 2 points!

Aug  16/25 - Went best puppy in group again, and then went on to win best puppy in show!

Aug  15/25 - Went best puppy in group!
July 5/25 - Went first in baby puppy female class at our newfoundland booster. In sweepstakes Nova took 1st in the 4-6 month female (all breeds) class!
